Police: Man shot in the jaw in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Jacksonville Police Department is investigating a Friday evening shooting.

Police say it happened just before 5:30 on the 200 block of Zack Circle.

Jacksonville Police say officers were called to the area after receiving reports a man had been shot. When officers arrived they found 29-year-old Dedrick Smith with a gunshot wound to his jaw.  Smith was taken to a local hospital, then flow to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for additional treatment.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is being conducting.
