GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- The two largest political parties in the United States now both have presidential nominees.
Hillary Clinton punched her ticket on Thursday. She’s the first female to represent a major party.
People in the East say they’re excited, energized, and hopeful. If you’re a democratic woman the emotions are even greater.
It’s what longtime Regina Carter calls a “sky’s the limit moment.”
“It makes the possibility for anyone to reach their goals normal as opposed to abnormal,” Regina Carter said.
A number of women will always remember July 28, 2016.
Carter said, “Every time there is a first it’s a joyful time.”
Women aren’t the only one full of emotion. Longtime democrats feel the same way. They think Philadelphia’s convention was a success.
“I don’t think that there’s any doubt that we are unified,” democrat Lee Armstrong said.
They say Hillary Clinton is the person for the job.
“I think what we got from this convention is that Hillary is a good person,” Armstrong said.
Carter said, “People should vote for Hillary Clinton because the alternative is frightening.”
Donald trump released a statement responding to Clinton’s acceptance speech. He called it “an insulting collection of clichés and recycled rhetoric.”
