Farmville oven fire requires multiple crews due to heat

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Multiple fire crews responded to a fire at the Farmville Natural Blend Plant Thursday afternoon. This is the same location of a silo fire in the town that burned for months last year. Investigators on the scene say this fire started in an oven used to bake the sweet potatoes stored on location. This is not the first time the oven has caught fire.

Farmville, Fountain, Walstonburg, Bell Arthur and Red Oak Fire Departments, along with Farmville EMS and police were all dispatched to the scene. WNCT is told the multiple departments were needed on scene because of the heat so the firefighters could put out the blaze in shifts.

The fire has been contained.
