Farmville Police host Pokémon safety event Sunday afternoon

FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Farmville Police Department wants everyone to stay safe while playing their favorite game on their smartphone. Sunday afternoon, officers hosted a free event allowing families to search for Pokéstops around town. Officer David Newton says safety is his number one goal.

“I just wanted to make sure that they don’t walk in front of cars or around trees or the water fountain that we have here in town commons, or walking down dark allies at night that normal people wouldn’t usually go to,” said Newton.

Newton says if you plan to play Pokémon Go after dark; make sure you don’t play alone.
