Two girls raise money to help mother pay bills

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A local girl and her friend are working around the clock at a lemonade stand to help her mother who lost her job.

A Greenville Police Officer noticed the girls during his routine patrols this morning. After hearing the story, he decided to jump in, bringing more police and firefighters to the sale.

Sierra Kirkman says she did the sale to make sure her mom can pay all of her bills and they can stay in their home. She says she was shocked when everyone showed up.

“They came and gave us money and if they didn’t care they wouldn’t have come out here and like help us and stuff,” said Kirkman.

Kirkan says they’ve raised over 100 dollars so far. They’re planning on having another sale tomorrow after 1 pm on Elkin Ridge Drive in Greenville.
