NC Democratic delegates prepare for convention

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Democratic National Convention kicks off in Philadelphia on Monday. Ahead of that, local delegates are packing their bags and beginning to head north.

Uriah Ward, who is a pledged Bernie Sanders delegate, said even though his candidate will likely miss out on the nomination, Hillary Clinton is a much better choice than Donald Trump.

Unlike the Republican National Convention, Ward believes his party’s convention will bring people together. He said Donald Trump consistently said he is the only person who can fix the nation’s problems.

Ward said the democrats believe the country is stronger together. He also said the convention is a way to gain momentum heading into the debates and election.

“We get to hear from leaders from across the country and I’m excited to see what sort of message the Democratic party decides to project,” Ward said.

WNCT will have live coverage of the convention, beginning on Monday. Hillary Clinton is expected to be the party’s nominee for president.
