ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) – CSX is working to meet with property owners in the coming days to discuss its new Carolina Connector hub set to open in Rocky Mount, according to a company spokeswoman.
The transportation company says the options for the terminal footprint have been secured. It will cover 500-550 acres between Battleboro Road and College Road south of Hwy. 301 in Rocky Mount.
Kristin Seay, a CSX Corporate Communications spokeswoman, told WNCT the company plans to pursue Edgecombe County’s standard incentive program to build the hub.
CSX will be looking for input from the public next week during open house meetings.
Governor Pat McCrory said on Tuesday that the connector hub will create 250 to 300 short-term jobs at its start. He called the connector a “game-changer” for the North Carolina economy.
