Vidant: Heat illness numbers down from same time last year

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Vidant Medical Center says heat illness numbers are down from the same time last year.

Doctors still want you to be aware of the effects the hot temperatures can have.

“Patients who are most at risk are the very young and the very old because they can’t regulate their heat as much,” said Dr. Timothy Reeder, ECU/Vidant Emergency Department.

Doctors say it’s important for people to stay hydrated and stay indoors when the temperature rises, no matter how old you are.
