Jacobs leaving ECU, set to transfer to UAB

GREENVILLE (WNCT)- East Carolina back-up quarterback John Jacobs announced through his twitter account Tuesday that he will transfer to UAB.

Jacobs sat out last season with a red-shirt year. He came to East Carolina as a 5-star recruit and said he was going to, “light up the Carolina skies.”

Jacobs was in line to make the depth-chart at quarterback this season, but wasn’t expected to take one of the top two slots.

Jacobs joins Kurt Benkert and Blake Kemp as quarterbacks to transfer from East Carolina this season.

Junior college transfer Gardner Minshew is joined by  Ray Smith, Jason Connella and Reid Herring as quarterbacks on the East Carolina roster this summer.
