JACKSONVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Jacksonville’s Freedom Fountain is turning blue to show support for law enforcement around the country.

According to the city’s Facebook page, Jacksonville Director of Public Safety Michael Yaniero also asks for prayers for officers, their families, and all law enforcement.

“I condemn these attacks on law enforcement today in Baton Rouge,” said Mayor Sammy Phillips. “As a former law enforcement officer I know there is a passion to serve others, a passion to make communities better and a passion to protect.”

The Freedom Fountain will be lit blue this week. The city is using the hashtag #turnitblue to show support for the victims of the recent police shootings.
