Shark pulled ashore at Onslow County beach

NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. (WNCN) — A shark was brought ashore in the surf at Topsail Island in Onslow County on Saturday.

The shark, which appeared to be more than 6 feet long, was pulled ashore.

The shark was then tagged and later released at North Topsail Beach.

Dr. Kevin Campbell, who provides health segments for CBS North Carolina, saw the incident and snapped a photo.

Two people were bitten in June near Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon in Carteret County.

A teen boy was bitten on June 11 near Atlantic Beach while in 3-feet deep water.

Exactly two weeks later, an 11-year-old boy was surfing west of Fort Macon State Park when he was bitten.
