GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Nearly 300 people from North Carolina are preparing to depart for Cleveland for the Republican National Convention.
Given the violence worldwide, security is expected to be very tight in Cleveland. Some protesters have already gathered at the convention site.
North Carolina’s Republican Party Chairman Robin Hayes said his group has already been briefed about security on site and understands there will likely be protests.
“There will be a time and a place and a way for them to voice their concerns,” he said.
North Carolina has 72 delegates who will vote for the party’s nominee, the fifth most in the country.
