Pitt, Beaufort Co. students bring life to innovative technology

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Students from Pitt and Beaufort counties took their first steps toward entrepreneurship.

They received certificates from the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Academy at ECU Friday.

Over three weeks, each student worked to bring to life new innovative technology.

Some inspiration for the projects came from things they use on a daily basis and others from personal experiences.

A few projects included a portable theatre system, pill dispensers, and athletic wear.

Parents of the students say the program is exactly what the kids need.

“Those are going to be our future leaders and so forth, not only in this region, but worldwide, and so, to actually have this in your backyard, I mean, that’s priceless,” explained Norman McDuffie, parent of student.

The program was funded by the Golden Leaf Foundation.
