Goldsboro Police charge one in Friday morning homicide

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCT) – 31-year-old Shontionne Domian Darden was charged with shooting and killing his mother, according to Goldsboro Police.

It happened in the early morning hours in the 300 block of Wilmington Avenue. That’s where police responded to a shots fired call.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 49-year-old Sonya Darden with a gunshot wound.

Police then called Wayne County EMS. When EMS arrived, they pronounced Sonya dead.

Shontionne was charged with second-degree murder and one count of felony possession of a firearm by a felon. He will appear in court on July 18.
