GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt County’s waste team needs your help.
The transfer center has over 6,000 tons of mulch and the county wants it all gone.
You can pick up as much mulch as you want. All you have to do is bring a truck to the county’s solid waster and recycling area off Allen Road.
“They can’t be put in the landfill so we have a grinding company come in and grind the material up and this is what’s left,” said John Demary, of Pitt County.
The mulch is made up of yard waste. Right now, mulch takes up 50-percent of the county’s waste area. Demary said he needs the space the mulch takes up in case a storm hits.
Previously, the county charged for the mulch they generated.
