Former Greenville pastor pleads guilty to 2nd-degree rape

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – According to Pitt County Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Cannon, Gregory Prayer, Jr., 38, pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree rape.

On March 30, 2015, officials learned of the former pastor’s criminal act.

Prayer, Jr. had multiple inappropriate conversations with the female victim through social media. The relationship ended up escalating to physical contact in March of 2016.

Prayer, Jr. will serve 64-to-137 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections.
