Several rallies, protests, planned in the East

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Several different rallies and protests are planned for areas in the East over the next few days.

On Sunday, Kinston Teens will be joined by NFL player Quinton Coples for a peace rally at 1 p.m. The rally is being called “For the love of Kinston” and will take place at Southeast Elementary School.

Later on Sunday in Greenville, a vigil to promote unity and peace will take place at the Pitt County Courthouse. The vigil begins at 7 p.m. and is being sponsored by New Greenville.

On Monday, ECU students are planning a peaceful protests at 3:30 p.m. during freshman orientation. Organizers said they hope to speak with incoming freshman and their families about the importance of diversity.

On Tuesday, A Call to Impact Our Nation (ACTION) will hold their first seminar with the New Bern Police Department at New Bern High School from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. ACTION is a new organization founded by teens in the area.

Organizers in New Bern hope to eliminate stereotypes associated with police officers and the African-American community and unite everyone.
