Hundreds gather in Kinston to promote peace

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – More than 200 people gathered Sunday in Kinston at the “For The Love of Kinston” peace rally.

The rally was one of eight events this weekend and was hosted by NFL player and Kinston native, Quinton Coples.

The rally created dialogue on how to inspire kids to avoid violence and pursue positive lifestyles instead. City leaders spoke about the importance of creating a culture of love and accountability.

Kinston Teen’s Chris Suggs said events like today give hope for the future, “Things like this, when we can all come together and celebrate and support each other, it just shows that there’s, there’s great things in Kinston. There’s greatness in Kinston. Ain’t nothing is impossible after things like this,” said Suggs.

Today’s rally was a part of the 5th annual “Quinton Coples” community weekend.
