2 Newport men charged after Wednesday night meth bust

NEWPORT, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies arrested two men in connection with a Wednesday night meth bust.

38-year-old Danny Ray Modlin and 43-year-old Michael Glen Hill, both of Newport, each face four counts of possession of meth precursors.

Their arrests follow drug detectives from the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach police and SBI responding to Vellines Ave, where they allegedly found the pair in possession of meth precursors and drug paraphernalia. They didn’t find an active meth lab, however.

Hill was placed on a $12,000 bond and also faces probation violation charges. Modlin was placed on a $6,000 bond. Both were scheduled for a first court appearance Thursday.
