Man sent to hospital after firework accident in Robersonville

ROBERSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A fireworks display in Robersonville took a turn for the worse sending one man to the hospital.

It happened Monday night at around 9:10 p.m. at East Carolina Motor Speedway when Hale Artificier Inc. was just starting to set off fireworks. A representative for the speedway said one of the fireworks malfunctioned and the company had to shut down the show due to safety concerns.

The man’s identity has not been released at this time, but he was transported to Martin General Hospital as a precaution. However, ECMS said that he is not injured and everyone involved is fine.

ECMS also said that the show will go on after the race on Saturday, July 9.
