NEW BERN, N.C. — New Bern could soon pave the way for more food trucks. That’s just one thing to come out of a public feed back session on proposed land use ordinance changes.
Others include building height measurements and new sidewalks. However, development services director Jeff Rugrieri said food trucks were high on the list of suggestions.
“It’s a unifying theme throughout the whole process is food trucks. If I put food trucks in every section of the code, I’d do it in a heartbeat,” he said.
Before the revision, food truck permits only lasted for 30 days at a time. Now, permits will last for up to a year and will cost about $15.
The city will allow trucks to operate in certain sections of downtown. A presentation of the rest of the changes made to the ordinance will be presented July 5 at 6 p.m. at the New Bern city hall.
