New NC laws as of July 1

(WNCT) – While North Carolina legislators are working on creating new laws, several they set in motion last year take effect on Friday.

There are several laws that will impact drivers. One includes requiring moped owners to have proof of liability insurance.

There are other laws related to the Division of Motor Vehicles. You can find out more here.

One law impacting families is the one that expands health insurance coverage for people who are autistic.

The law requires certain health plans to cover not only the treatment but also the screening and diagnosis of autism. It applies to insurance contracts renewed on or after Friday.
