Morehead City’s Alive at Five draws hundreds

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) – Hundreds of people turned out for the Alive at Five free concert in Morehead City on Friday. The event was the official kickoff to the 4th of July holiday weekend along the Crystal Coast.

Organizers said the event, which is in its 6th year, was started to attract more people downtown to support local businesses. Since then it has taken off.

Lisa Rueh, the director of the Downtown Morehead City Revitalization Association, said it was the perfect way to kick off the holiday.

“It’s so important for all of the municipalities have events then people have things to do. It draws everybody to Carteret County and that’s what everybody is trying to do. Bring people to the beach so they can see what we have to offer here,” she said.

Alive at Five takes place the first and third Friday of every month in the Jaycee’s Park in Morehead City.
