Hope for the Warriors 5K run to take place in New Bern on Fourth of July

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – This Fourth of July holiday, why not celebrate, all while giving back at the same time?

The 5th Annual New Bern Run for the Warriors will take place Monday at Union Point Park. The event benefits Hope for the Warriors, a national nonprofit founded aboard Camp Lejeune in 2006.

Past races have raised over $100,000 each year. That money goes directly back to the Hope for the Warriors support programs to help military families.

“Our race really aims to unite the military and civilian community together to really just celebrate our country and honor our men and women in uniform and their service and sacrifices,” said Kristy Schwartz, the Social Media Coordinator for the organization.

If you haven’t registered yet, don’t worry.

You can register the day of the event on-site, but you’ll need to be there early. Registration at the event starts at 7am.

If you register before midnight on Friday, type in the code “RESTORE” to receive a special discount.

The race starts Monday morning at 7:30.
