It’s official: ECU makes switch to Adidas

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – East Carolina University athletics is now with Adidas.

The Pirates parted ways with Nike and July 1 begins the 10-year partnership.

ECU kicked off its top-tier, all-sport partnership with Adidas that ECU hopes will help increase its national brand. The university is adamant that the 10-year, $16.5-million deal will free up money for bigger scholarships to student-athletes.

The purple and gold, as well as the Pirate logo, isn’t going anywhere. Lee Workman, associate athletic director for administration, said that fans can expect to start seeing Adidas merchandise and apparel in the community and online in the next six weeks.
