Atlantic Beach drawing tourists from outside country for the 4th

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) – Atlantic Beach has become a destination for tourists inside, and outside, of the country to enjoy. Thousands are expected to pack along the coast in the East for the 4th of July holiday weekend.

On Friday, traffic was already backing up in some areas of the East.

David Hope, who is visiting from England, said Atlantic Beach has become a place he wants to visit each year, “It’s got a great little bar over there for the grown-ups, where they can go and act like kids, and it’s got great places for the kids to act like kids as well.”

Other visitors said they enjoy supporting local businesses and eating at local restaurants.

Last year was a record year for tourism along the Crystal Coast, something businesses there hope to surpass this year.
