Goldsboro Police arrest suspect in homicide investigation

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — According to Goldsboro Police, 18-year-old Jacques Torraine Atkinson was arrested just after midnight Monday morning after he turned himself in.

The incident happened just before 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Carver Drive. When police arrived, they discovered Michael Jerome Wimbush Jr., 19, who was the victim of gunshot wounds.

“Emergency Medical personnel responded and confirmed that the victim was deceased,” Goldsboro Police said in a statement to the media.

After an investigation, police said they “developed” a suspect in the case. Police added that Atkinson was wanted on an open count of murder.
