Durham man killed in stabbing; victim’s son charged in death

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham police say that a son is now charged in the stabbing death of his dad Sunday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to a stabbing call in the 3400 block of Marquis Drive at 12:23 p.m.

When police arrived they found a man with several stab wounds, Durham police said.

The victim was later identified as Donald Fields Sr., 54, of Durham. Fields was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

The suspect, believed to be a close relative, fled the scene, Durham Police said.

Durham Police said on Sunday evening that Donald Fields Jr., 23, of Durham, was arrested and charged with murder in the case.
