Students in Lenoir County see their hard work pay off

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) – Someone in Lenoir County walked away with a brand new house on Saturday.

South Lenoir High School students spent the majority of their school year building the house. It was part of a construction technology class and Saturday morning they saw their work get auctioned off.

Teacher Frank Emory said experiences like this are important for the students to have, “It gives them a chance to work with individuals and work as a team. we have our issues at times but we always work them out and that’s what life is about when they get out there on the job site.”

Students build a house every year as a part of this class.

In previous years, the house has sold for around $75,000. This year’s house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the money is expected to go back to the school.
