Parmalee joins other country stars for Orlando victims, families

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Eastern Carolina natives, and now platinum selling artists, Parmalee joined other country music stars Tuesday to raise money for the victims and their families of the Orlando shooting.

The event, titled Country Strong, took place on the campus of the University of Central Florida, feature artists like Cole Swindell, Tyler Farr and Jerrod Neimann. Proceeds from the concert benefited the OneOrlando Fund.

Parmalee’s lead singer Matt Thomas told WNCT that any time a tragedy happens, the country community is right there to lend a helping hand. When they found out about the concert and saw they could work it into their schedule, they jumped on board.

Before the show, Thomas said being in Orlando changed his perception of what the city has been through.

“You can tell that everybody is pulling together, but it’s a little bit somber here, you know what they’ve been through and how it’s got to be tough on everybody here,” he said.

Parmalee returns home in the East Saturday for a show in Zebulon.
