Some dads in the East spend Father’s Day getting baptized

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – It may not be the traditional way to spend Father’s Day, but some dads spent their special day getting baptized.

It happened during services at Ignite Church in Greenville on Sunday. Several dads took the plunge, some alongside their kids.

Michael Shephard, a father himself, said getting baptized is great, but being able to do it in front of his young son is even better.

“I feel like it’s probably one of the most important things we can do as a father, is show them the right way to be faithful to our savior,” Shephard said.

Some said getting baptized today was a way to give their other father, God, a present on this special day.
