Man convicted in Pender County shooting death

Nashid Porter

BURGAW, N.C. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of a man in Wimington nearly four years ago.

Multiple media outlets reported that Nashid Porter was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the 2012 death of Brian Grant of Wilmington.

Porter represented himself in the trial.

When he was brought in for the sentencing he yelled at Grant’s family that he did not shoot the man.

Porter faces trial in Duplin County for the death of Obediah Hester, who was a witness to Grant’s death.
