First on 9: Accident shuts down a portion of Greenville Blvd

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – An accident shut down a portion of Greenville Blvd and Red Banks Road Saturday evening for about an hour.

Greenville Fire – Rescue and Greenville Police Department responded to a three car accident on Greenville Blvd and Red Banks Road. The call came in at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

A black Ford Focus was traveling West on Greenville Blvd and ran a red light. A black truck then hit the Ford Focus. One person was extracted from the Ford Focus using the jaws of life.

Four people from the Ford Focus were transported to Vidant Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Greenville Blvd has since been reopened.

Charges are expected to be filed for the driver of the Ford Focus for running a red light.
