4 arrested, 1 sought in Nash County homicide

NASHVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Four people have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man Friday.

The Sheriff’s Office said that at 8 a.m., they responded to a call in the 13000 block of West Old Spring Hope Road in reference to a man who had been shot.

The Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased as Tony Maurice Braswell Jr. He lived at the home where his body was found.

Braswell was found by a family member lying on the ground in the front yard of the residence and dead from a gunshot wound in the chest.

“It’s really scary,” said neighbor Garry Perdue. “It’s disturbing. When I walked outside this morning and saw all the crime scene tape and police cars, it scared me to death.”

Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said it was the first murder in the county in two years.

Later Friday, four suspects were arrested in connection with Braswell’s death.

Shannon Sentell Jones, 33, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

He is being held without bond. Jones is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Mallory Nicole Johnson, 17, was arrested and charged with accessory before the fact to felony and conceal or failure to notify death of a person.

She was given a $25,000 secure bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Madison Deann Johnson, 21, was arrested and charged with accessory before the fact to felony and conceal or failure to notify death of a person.

She was given a $25,000 secure bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Danny Scott Womack, 21, was arrested and charged with accessory before the fact to felony and conceal or failure to notify death of a person.

He was given a $40,000 secure bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a fifth person involved in the homicide.
