NEWPORT, N.C. (WNCT) – The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Havelock couple in connection to a road rage incident in Newport on Highway 24 Sunday.
23-year-old Jameliah Elaine Hannah and 29-year-old Willie Lee Johnson were charged Friday.
The incident began on Sunday after 5 p.m. when the defendants pulled out of the rear exit of Wal-Mart in Morehead City cutting off the victim who was heading west on Highway 24.
According to both sides, the victim allegedly got out in front of the defendant’s car and slammed on the brakes.
The defendants tried to pass, but the vehicle wouldn’t let them by in either lane. Words and gestures were exchanged and it resulted in Johnson following the victim to the Jim Dandy parking lot.
This is where Johnson’s wife was seen assaulting the victim, who suffered a broken nose and two black eyes.
Johnson and Hannah are scheduled to appear in court on July 11.
