Vanderbilt University baseball player drowns in lake

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Vanderbilt University baseball player drowned in a lake in Coffee County Thursday.

The Coffee County Sheriff confirms freshman pitcher Donny Everett died Thursday while fishing.

Divers found his body just before 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Officials told News 2 they received a call about a person needing help at Mountain View Road near the Cat Walk on Normandy Lake.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, Coffee County EMS and Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

Vanderbilt University is scheduled to play Xavier Friday in the NCAA Regional at Vanderbilt.
