GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Tuesday is primary election day for people running for Congress. On Thursday night, 1st District Representative G.K. Butterfield held a State of the District meeting in Greenville.
Butterfield began by explaining that the event was not a political event, although he did inform the audience about his thoughts on how the Republican leadership is failing. He says he is not happy about the deficit brought on by tax cuts to the rich and is interested in hearing what the people of the district have to say about what’s most important to them.
“Our citizens want employment, they want to raise the minimum wage, they want full-time employment, they want good benefits, and they want affordable health care. That is the theme I hear every day throughout the first district,” said Butterfield.
This is the Butterfield’s first time touring the district with his state of the district message.
