Deputies: Arrest made in Dover shooting

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies in Craven County have arrested a Dover man in connection to a shooting one week ago.

35-year-old Anthony Ricardo Williams was arrested Wednesday and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, First Degree Kidnapping, and Filing a False Police Report.

Deputies said his arrest follows an investigation into a May 26th shooting, adding that the incident was the result of a domestic situation between Williams and his estranged girlfriend Joann Daley. They said a struggle ensued between the pair over a firearm Williams attempted to use, which resulted in Williams receiving a gunshot wound. He was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he recovered and was subsequently released.

Williams was also a served an outstanding criminal summons for two counts of communicating threats and cyberstalking that occurred on March 16th against Daly.

He’s being held on no bond and has a first appearance in Craven County District Court on June 2nd.
