Teachers set to march to Raleigh in June

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – A group of teachers are planning a more than 20-mile walk from Durham to Raleigh in an effort to get the state government’s attention.

Organizers and teachers, Kristin Beller, Turquoise Parker and Dawn Wilson have visited each other’s schools and believe that something needs to change. Their classrooms need more resources and the educators said that same issue is seen within many North Carolina public schools.

Kristin Beller from Millbrook Elementary School feels that teachers deserve more.

“We’ve had enough and they’re not listening to us so we’re going to make them listen,” said Beller.

The march is scheduled for June 14th and 15th.

It is set to end with a rally in Raleigh.
