Pitt County man arrested for forgery of checks

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Pitt County Sheriff detectives have arrested one man and charged him for breaking into a home and trying to use stolen checks.

On May 27th, detectives arrested 24-year-old Joshua Wayne Stone of 117 Brownlea Dr. Apt. 24 in Greenville. He’s charged with one count of Breaking & Entering, one count of Larceny After Breaking & Entering, three counts of Forgery of an Instrument, and three counts of Uttering and Instrument.

In May, detectives received a report of a larceny of personal checks. The stolen checks had been forged and passed at Woodforest National Bank in Greenville on three separate dates.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said Stone allegedly broke into the victim’s residence of 6691 Clarks Neck Road in Washington and stole three checks belonging to the victim.

Stone was transported to the Pitt County Detention Center and received a $25,000 secured bond.
