Onslow Co. Sheriff’s Office looking to fill deputy position

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Onslow County, like many other counties, needs more deputies.

If you’re interested in the job, you have less than a week to apply.

For the full-time job at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, you need to apply by Monday.

Sheriff Hans Miller says dozens of applicants apply, but those that stand out have to pass a series of background checks before moving forward.

“What we’re looking for at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is good people that we can train and that will actually stay there,” said Sheriff Miller, who previously asked the county for numerous deputy and detention officer positions.

He says this open position is not part of that request, but rather an open position to replace a previous deputy.
