Litter removal news conference scheduled Tuesday in Duplin Co.

ROSE HILL, N.C. (WNCT) – State transportation officials are talking about litter removal Tuesday morning in Duplin County.

The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a $2.27 million contract to the Graham County Land Company.

The company will take on litter removal on thousands of miles of North Carolina’s interstates and roadways.

Cleanup will take place along these routes throughout the year as litter and debris accumulates.

Since receiving the contract, Graham County Land Company has been removing litter and debris at a rate as high as 1,000 pounds per mile.

Graham County Land Company vice president, Bucky Jackson, Sr., will speak on the issue of litter and what citizens can do on Tuesday at 11am.

The news conference is happening at the Duplin County Solid Waste and Recycling Department located on 325 Landfill Road in Rose Hill.
