Preparing your car for a summer road trip

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – We’re less than a week away from the unofficial start of summer.

As travel ramps up, vehicle technicians recommend getting your car inspected beforehand to avoid any potential issues.

This holiday weekend, AAA expects to rescue over 350,000 motorists with flat tires, dead batteries or other car trouble.

Some checks can actually save you money.

“For gas mileage, I would check the tire pressure because if the tire pressure is off, that will lower your gas mileage on your vehicles,” said Chris Batten, manager of Precision Auto Tune Care.

You should also make sure your oil life is fresh, and check your battery to make sure you don’t end up stranded.
