Police: Puppy gets broken leg after man slams dog into ground

GRANBY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York State Police arrested a man they say slammed a yellow Labrador Retriever puppy to the ground.

Police say when they arrived, they found the dog in distress, a broken femur, and signs of strangulation. The puppy was taken away by the Town of Granby Animal Control Officer for an immediate medical evaluation.

The puppy underwent surgery and had a pin placed in her femur.

John Fatcheric, 63, was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Police say the incident happened in April after a witness saw Fatcheric slam the dog into the ground.

He is due in court in June.
