Ohio father arrested after death of 4-year-old boy scalded in tub

LEBANON, Ohio (WDTN) – 2 NEWS has learned the father of the boy who died after being scalded with hot water was arrested Monday.

The Warren County Prosecutor tweeted about the arrest Monday. Prosecutors say Robert Ritchie III was indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children.

Robert Ritchie III spoke with 2 NEWS in April about the death of his son, Austin. The father wanted to raise money and awareness for child abuse.

Anna Ritchie is accused of putting her stepson in scalding hot water pleaded not guilty to six charges including murder, endangering children, felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter.

Anna Ritchie is accused of putting 4-year-old Austin Cooper in water, about 130 degrees for roughly 20 minutes. She reportedly resented being his primary caregiver.

Afterwards, the boy was reportedly bleeding and his skin was falling off his legs when Ritchie put him to bed without treatment.

Robert Ritchie was being booked into the Warren County jail Monday.
