Youth lacrosse is on the rise in the east

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Across the east, baseball, softball, and soccer rule the spring for kids and teens.

But lacrosse is catching on at the youth level.

This weekend, Greenville hosted more than 1200 boys and girls as part of the East Carolina Youth Lacrosse League’s spring tournament.

The ECYLL started 11 years ago and came to Pitt County in 2006. What started as just one boys and one girls team has grown to six teams in Pitt County.

The ECYLL also extends to New Bern, Havelock, Topsail, Kinston, Cape Carteret and Jacksonville.
