Domestic violence suspect located after heavy police presence shuts down road

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – Greenville Police say a man has turned himself in following the search for a domestic violence suspect, who police say may have fired shots at a woman on Sunday.

Greenville Police were at the intersection of Tyson and West Third Street, beside York Memorial AME Zion Church. The woman involved in the incident was unharmed.

Bernard Jones is now in police custody and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $1.5 million bond.

Because the incident allegedly involved a gun, police took extra precautions and closed the surrounding road.

GPD said the incident was isolated between the male and female but is still under investigation.

More details will be released as they become available.
