Storm surge expert to speak in Nags Head, Buxton

NAGS HEAD, N.C. (AP) — An expert on storm surge is speaking in Nags Head and Buxton as residents prepare for hurricane season, which starts June 1.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports (http://bit.ly/22grSPd) that Jamie Rhome of the National Hurricane Center is speaking Friday at Nags Head Fire Station Number 16 on South Croatan Highway.

Displays, activities and information about protecting lives and property from hurricanes and other storms will be available.

Rhome will also speak Saturday morning at the Fessenden Center in Buxton.
