Riley’s Army in need of donations for kids to have fun in the sun

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Riley’s Army is looking for donations to help children enjoy some fun in the sun this summer.

Camp Rainbow serves children with cancer or blood-related diseases. The week-long program lets kids get out and have fun with other kids who may be struggling with the same disease.

Riley’s Army is sponsoring the trip for 15 kids and it’s asking for the community to donate supplies like sunscreen, toothpaste and soap.

Parents say it’s important for the child to get out and forget about their disease or illness.

“They get to do the stuff that normal kids do, and normal kids do a camp. It’s a phenomenal event because these are kids that are in treatment that are just out of treatment,” parent Rick Owens said.
