Vidant Medical Center achieves national reaccreditation for quality of care

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Patients that are seeking surgical options at Vidant Medical Center for severe obesity and its related conditions have a high-quality choice for receiving treatment locally.

More specifically, patients can go to a nationally-accredited program that meets the top standards for patient safety and quality of care.

Vidant Medical Center was reaccredited as a comprehensive center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

“VMC ensures that a bariatric surgical patient receives a multidisciplinary program, not just a surgical procedure,” said Samantha Casper, bariatric coordinator at VMC.  “This improves patient outcomes and long-term success.”

To earn the designation by the MBSAQIP, Vidant Medical Center met the essential criteria for staffing, training and facility infrastructure and protocols for care.
